Artevio Quartett – Startseite

The Quartet

Founded in the summer of 2007 by Alex Jussow (violin), Andreas Feldmann (violin), Laura Rayén Escanilla Rivera (viola), and Martin Leo Schmidt (cello), the Artevio Quartet is committed to the performance of the great chamber music masterpieces. After forming in the National Youth Orchestra of Germany the group meets regularly despite residing in various cities. In addition to being dedicated chamber musicians, each member is a prize-winner in numerous national and international competitions.

At the “Jugend musiziert” competition of 2008, the quartet won the first prize at the regional, state, and national levels as well as the Classical Prize from the City of Münster and the West German Radio. In addition, in 2010 the young musicians received the chamber music prize at the "PODIUM" Festival in Esslingen, which has been distinguished by „Echo Klassik“ as one of the most important venues for young musicians. Radio broadcasts on SWR (Southwest German Radio), WDR (West German Radio) and Saarland Radio speak to their artistic achievements.

The ensemble has performed at renowned international festivals, such as the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, Musikfest Stuttgart, Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Kultursommer Main-Kinzig-Fulda. The quartet demonstrates its flexibility with frequent projects with ensembles such as the Leipzig Gewandhaus Quartet and John Neumeier‘s Hamburg Ballet. It also works regularly with artists such as Benedict Klöckner and Martin Stadtfeld.

Major influences on their musical identity include Eberhard Feltz („Hanns Eisler“ Conservatory Berlin) and Günter Pichler (Alban Berg Quartet), as well as Stefan Metz (Orlando Quartet), Arnold Steinhardt (Guarneri Quartet), the Artemis Quartet, the Voces Quartet, Ralf Gothóni, Herwig Zack, Clemens Malich and Niklas Schmidt. The ensemble holds a scholarship from the "Feldtmann kulturell" Foundation in Hamburg and the members are currently students at the conservatories in Berlin, Düsseldorf, Karlsruhe and Vienna.

This season the Artevio Quartet has engagements at the Rheingau Musik Festival with pianist Martin Stadtfeld, in Stuttgart and at other important venues in Germany, as well as broadcasts on SWR.
